Issue No. 435Ḥayḍ (Monthly Period)

A Women Who Bleeds for Three Consecutive Days and Again After Becoming Ṭāhir

Issue No.435- If a woman sees blood continuously for three days and then becomes ṭāhir, if she sees blood again, in case the total number of days in which blood was seen and the number of the days in which she was ṭāhir, does not exceed ten days, the days in which blood is seen will be counted as ḥayḍ. However, in the middle days during which she remained ṭāhir, the rules of a ṭāhir women will apply to her.

A Wound for Which Water Is Harmful

Issue No.346- If there is an open wound, abscess or broken bone in one’s face or hands, but water is harmful for it, it suffices if one washes its surroundings and wipes a wet hand on it if it is not harmful to it. However, if it is harmful, it is recommended that he places a ṭāhir piece of cloth on it and wipes a wet hand on that cloth.

Issue No. 2240- If an animal is hunted or slaughtered and its live foetus is taken out of its body, it will be halal if it is slaughtered in accordance with sharia, otherwise it will be haram. However, if by hunting or slaughtering an animal, its foetus dies in the mother’s womb, it is halal provided that it is fully developed and hair or fleece have grown on its body.

Abandoning Qunūt

Issue No.1000- If a person does not recite qunūt intentionally; there is no qaḍā for it. And if he forgets it, and remembers before reaching rukū‘, it is recommended that he stand up and recite it. Moreover, if he remembers while performing rukū‘, it is recommended that he perform its qaḍā after rukū‘. In addition, if he remembers while performing sajdah, it is recommended that he perform its qaḍā after salām.

Abandoning Sūrah al-Ikhlāṣ or al-Kāfirūn While Reciting Them

Issue No.903- If after al-fātiḥa, somebody begins reciting sūrah al-Ikhlāṣ or al-Kāfirūn, he cannot abandon it and recite another sūrah. However, if in Friday prayer, he recites one of these two sūrahs, he can abandon them and start reciting sūrah al-Jumu‘ah and sūrah al-Munāfiqūn, provided that he has not recited half of them.

Abandoning the Hometown

Issue No.1163- If a person abandons a place where he used to live and which was his hometown [i.e., he has no longer the intention to live there] he should shorten the prayer even though he sometimes goes there to visit his relatives and friends, and irrespective of whether he owns a property there and his relatives and family live there or not unless he intends to stay there for ten days, in the case of which, he should shorten his prayer while there. Similarly, if a person adopts a place other than his original home to be as his residence, and stays there for six months more or less, and then abandons it, he should shorten his prayer there irrespective of whether he has a property there or not.

Issue No.897- If the time is short for the prayer, or when there is fear of a thief or a wild animal, or if one is in a hurry for an important matter, he may abandon the sūrah.

Issue No.901- It is not necessary to recite a sūrah after al-fātiḥa in recommended prayers, even if those prayers may have become obligatory due to vow (nadhr). However, with respect to some special recommended prayers in which particular sūrahs are prescribed, one should act accordingly.

Abandonment of Guardian"s Permission when Oppose without Reason

Issue No. 2037- A virgin girl should obtain permission from her father or paternal grandfather for marriage but if she is rashīdah, (i.e., she is able to decide what is in her interest) and according to the prominent figures of the girl’s family the man and woman suit one another, however, the girl’s father disagrees, then there is no need for his permission anymore. The same ruling applies if a girl had married in the past.
